The cereal is left in water for two days, following is drained and left to germinate for another 4-5 days until it produces the sprout; at this point it is toasted. There malts grains of different cereals but are mostly used barley malt and wheat malt. A second distinction is made between the base malts (malts that can be used 100% in recipes such as Pilsner, Pale Ale, Maris Otter etc ...) and special malts (carapils, crystal medium, carawheat etc ...).
